Announcement

Eyewitness is now Tessera

Same instruments. Same measurements. Same company. New names — and, arriving with them, the site you are reading. If you came here from a bookmark or a datasheet, this page tells you what happened and where everything went.

ONE ANNOUNCEMENT, TWO CHANGESNOTHING YOU MEASURED LAST WEEK CHANGED

What changed

The names. That is the honest, complete answer. The sensor product line that customers knew as Eyewitness is now Tessera. The software behind it is now Mosaic. Inside Mosaic, three products carry three plain promises rather than one catch-all label.

The reason is unglamorous: we outgrew a name that described a device. Eyewitness described one thing standing outside watching the weather, which is exactly what it was. What exists now is a network of instruments feeding one platform that answers three different questions for three different jobs. A single device name could not carry that, and stretching it would have made every conversation start with a correction.

What did not change

  • The instruments. Same hardware, same impact plate, same peel-and-stick, pole and tracker mounts. A unit installed last season is a Tessera today, with no site visit.
  • The measurements. Impact count, impact energy, impact concentration, duration, timestamped to the second, with stone size reported as a conservative floor. The method did not move.
  • Your history. Every event already recorded at your sites is still there and still comparable. A rename is a label change, not a reset of the record.
  • The company. Same team, same contracts, same people answering the phone. Hailios is still Hailios.

IF YOUR ROOF HAS AN INSTRUMENT ON IT, IT DID NOT NOTICE ANY OF THIS.

The new vocabulary, in one pass

Two words to learn, and three promises you already understand.

Tessera — the sensor

A tessera is one tile in a mosaic: one small, hard fact. That is what a sensor produces — one measurement, at one address. HAIL is the instrument, and wind is an add-on:

HAILWINDADD-ON

HAIL is the founding instrument and carries no badge, because it was never new. The WIND add-on brings gust and direction onto the same record, riding validated partner instrumentation. See Tessera →

Mosaic — the platform

Enough tiles make a picture. Mosaic is everything cloud and software: ingestion, calibration, reporting, alerting, APIs. The data platform that shipped as SCOOP is now Mosaic, and the event-verification reporting that shipped as VERIFY is now Mosaic Reports inside it. All of it runs on Hailios Fusion AI, which is patent pending. See the platform →

Why the rename and the new site arrived together

Because a rebrand explains itself far better when it turns up attached to something. Split into two announcements, this would have spent two news cycles and invited the question “why did you change the name?” twice. Delivered as one: the platform grew into three products, the products needed names, and the site had to be rebuilt to hold them.

A NAME CHANGE ON ITS OWN IS A PRESS RELEASE. A NAME CHANGE WITH A PLATFORM BEHIND IT IS A REASON.

Where the old pages went

Old links redirect automatically — you do not need to update anything for them to work. For orientation, here is where the main product pages now live:

Old pageNowWhat it is
/eye-witness//tessera/hail/The hail sensor — now Tessera HAIL
/scoop-data//mosaic/The data platform — now Mosaic
/24-7-monitoring//mosaic/alerts/Monitoring and alerting — now Mosaic Alerts

EVERY OLD URL STILL RESOLVES. WE MOVED THE FURNITURE, NOT THE HOUSE.

Datasheets, quotes and reports issued under the previous names remain valid. If you hold a document that references the old naming and you need it reissued, ask and we will send the current version.

The short version

New words for the same measurement

We changed what the products are called. We did not change what they do, how they do it, or what we are willing to put our name to. Radar infers; we still measure.
